ABOUT US

We are a wholesale supplier of quality, trend-forward,
and artisanal decor and homeware, all handcrafted
right here in South Africa. We are a family business led
by an aunt and niece duo, both with an unwavering
dedication to design and love for sustainability.
We place a strong emphasis on ethical practices and local
support, collaborating with independent artisans who are
masters of their craft. When you purchase a product from us
you can trust that you are not only investing in quality pieces
but also contributing to the growth and success of our talented
artisans.

Our commitment to sustainability can also be seen in the
materials we use. Working with Blue Gum wood, an alien
vegetation that poses a threat to indigenous flora and water
resources, we play our part in conservation efforts while
creating beautiful, sustainable products.

We seamlessly blend global trends with a unique African
touch. Rooted in the Wabi Sabi philosophy, we celebrate
imperfections and cherish the ever-changing beauty of nature.
Natural cracking and variations in size and colour are not flaws
but integral parts of the aesthetic.

We are excited to embark on a creative journey with you,
bringing the essence of South African craftsmanship and the
spirit of Africa to homes and spaces worldwide.

Together, we can weave magic and create
unforgettable experiences for your customers.

With love,
Sam & Marijke

Wood Disclaimer and Care Guide

Thank you for supporting our sustainably harvested wooden products. The majority of the wood that we use is alien-cleared eucalyptus and sculptured by incredibly talented informal artisans.

Please note the following important information regarding the natural characteristics and care of our items:

The wood used in crafting our products is a natural material, and as such, variations in appearance should be expected. You may notice unique features such as knots, texture differences, and distinct grain patterns, which contribute to the beauty and individuality of each piece. These variations mean that no two items will be identical, and the product you receive may differ slightly from samples or marketing imagery.

Wood, as a living material, is sensitive to changes in temperature and humidity. It may expand, contract, developing cracks, known as “Checks.” This is a completely normal process. Additionally, exposure to natural elements may cause the wood’s colour to change over time, often shifting from a yellowish hue to a grayish tone, particularly if left untreated and exposed to the outdoors.

While we take every precaution to ensure that our products are resilient, by placing items in a dehumidifier and treating for mold and insects.  Regular maintenance and care will help preserve the look and quality of the item. If cracks or movements appear, rest assured that these are natural characteristics of solid wood and a part of its aging process.

We offer several finishing options for our wooden products: leaving the wood raw, applying a beeswax sealant, painting it black with a clear sealant finish, using linseed oil, or sealing it with a clear matte sealer. The linseed oil and matte sealer options provide the highest level of protection and longevity. We recommend regular reapplication of linseed oil for ongoing maintenance. Please note that linseed oil can subtly alter the color of the wood, adding a golden-brown hue that deepens over time.

By following these care recommendations, you can ensure that your wooden product maintains its

appearance and lasts for many years to come.
